One Of These Days, You'll Have One Of Those Days One of these days, you'll have one of those days Where mistreating you has turned into the latest craze One of these days, you'll have one of those days When you're getting all F's and you're desperately needing some A's And when it ends may you say "Todays' the reversal of yesterday" And when it ends may you say "It's worth what I had to pay One of these days, you'll have one of those days When the colors you see are the dullest and ugliest grays And when It ends may you say "Today's the reversal of yesterday" And when it ends may you say "There's no need to hide away" The clouds will cloud the air The way you'll fare will be unfair You can't avoid the void Annoying how you'll be annoyed And when it ends may you say "Today's the reversal of yesterday" And when it ends may you say "I love what's addressed today" One of these days, you'll have one of those days

Forgetting That I Am Forgotten Oh how I miss how it feels to be missed For way too long I've been scratched off the list Why didn't somebody mention today Nobody has the attention to pay And I keep forgetting that I am forgotten I keep forgetting that I am forgotten I shouldn't mind that I'm so out of mind Nobody's looking so no one will find My point of view is no longer in view All that I am in, no one is into And I keep forgetting that I am forgotten I keep forgetting that I am forgotten Invitations gone, Desperation's on Bells will not be rung, Sing and stay unsung Is there a mind I might stumble across I'm losing track of what's seen as a loss I really hope I'm not holding out hope I keep on coping when I cannot cope And I keep forgetting that I am forgotten I keep forgetting that I am forgotten The past is not what's next, Clearly quite perplexed I've shared more than my share, Where is anywhere

The Golden Age Of Just The Other Day I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know yesterday Thought she spoke the truth when she said she was going stay If I knew sorrow, would come tomorrow I would've given it a go I don't count my blessings 'til they're not there to count anymore I don't want to leave 'til I just can't find any door Your luck you don't doubt, until it runs out Now it'a all I worry about Didn't know what price I was to pay Pretty sure the warnings signs were not on display As life unfolds and I'm learning more I seem to find myself yearning for The Golden Age of Jus tThe Other Day I didn't know how thin I was 'til I put on some weight Didn't know how time had passed 'til I looked at the date Before I'd just shrug, Then I caught that bug Now I'm in the hole that I dug Didn't know the price I was to pay Didn't know about the troubles that were keeping at bay As life unfolds and I'm learning more I seem to find myself yearning for The Golden Age Of Just The Other Day Thought I was so in touch Until I tried to relate That I could do so much Until I tried to create The Golden Age Of Just The Other Day

Your Closest Friends Your closest friends are just the people it takes the longest time to learn you don't like Your closest friends are just the people you never got around to telling, "Take a hike." They know your insecurities and what you fear the most How can you be friends with them is what you hear the most They know where your buttons are and how to push them in They say you're looking fat although you know you're looking thin And they keep bragging about what a good friend they've been Your closest friends are just the people it takes the longest time to learn you don't like Your closest friends are just the people you never got around to telling "Take A hike," To stay their friends some say that you're nuts If you met them now for the first time you'd hate their guts You have always said he's more a brother than a pal Did you know he hit on everyone you called your gal? They are always talking every time your back is turned They're another bridge long ago you should've burned To put you down is a right that they feel they have earned Your closest friends are just the people it takes the longest time to learn you don't like Your closest friends are just the people you never got around to telling "Take a hike." They throw your weaknesses in your face They will remind you of when you were in disgrace Don't fear that you are way past the point Of tracking down a new best friend you can anoint

Your Beauty Disappears I saw your work ID And thought, "Who the hell is she?" I can't recognize you at all, were you in disguise? Pictures can deceive, and make your glamor leave I will eat my hat if you look anything like that Your beauty disappears in photographs Your beauty disappears in photographs When you're standing near me it'a a lovely view The camera may not love you, but I do A painted portrait might Show you in true light I know why you deny my pictures to remember you by Your beauty disappears in photographs Your beauty disappears in photographs The person inside the frame looks nothing like you The camera may not love you but I do I hope that you find The mirror is more kind Wish that you were me so you'd see what I love to see Your beauty disappears in photographs Your beauty disappears in photographs Now I'm summing it up because I thought the whole thing through The camera may not love you, but I do The camera acts so crook-like But I know what you really look like

Long Ago ( is where I long to go ) Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I long to go Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I ling to go I thought the best was yet to come Not surprised I'd been so dumb Now I'd rather be where I'm from What is no longer found Used to be spotted all around Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I long to go Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I long to go As I dwell on yesteryear Now I must admit to fear Because everything stays unclear Who guessed that I would be Such a big fan of history Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I long to go Things look much better when seen from far away They sure look awful from where I stand today All I can look forward to Is things I know I'll never do So I'm running from all that's new This looking backwards trend No one would ever recommend Long ago, Long ago Long ago is where I long to go

Try To Have A Happy Birthday The worries won't be kept at bay You'll beg but they will not obey So try to have a happy birthday anyway You would like to runaway But it's here to your dismay So try to have a happy birthday anyway You hope your friends won't disregard Well keep on hoping You'll just discover one e-card That you can't open Pain will be right on display All your tears come into play But try to have a happy birthday anyway The skies will be a gloomy gray You'll wish that you were born in May But try to have a happy birthday anyway Someone will play that Beatles song And think it's clever Most good intentions will go wrong And hurt forever A day when you must reflect But reflections you must reject Little creases get a little deeper As the jokers sing Don't Fear The Reaper You hit the age when you will start To lie about it Although you know deep in your heart That people doubt it Parties will not be thrown And she will not ring your phone It's official, you are not a sleeper Slowly you're becoming the old weeper You are kept but no one is your keeper All the cheap talk gets a little cheaper

From Surreal To So Real All my routines are feeling far from routine Not in the shape it takes to start a new scene All of the things that would take me away Now take me to places where I don't want to stay I'm always finding myself feeling so lost Over a line I can't remember I crossed Forced into choices that I'd never choose Thrown in a game I must play and will lose They keep on asking, "So how do you feel?" I always answer, "It goes from surreal to so real." I know what's coming but I'm never prepared To brave to admit that I will always be scared All of my thoughts are haunting ones All of my tasks are daunting ones They keep on asking, "So how do you feel?" I always answer, " It goes from surreal to so real." There is a grayness that refuses to leave A dull everydayness that I'd never conceive They keep on asking, "So how do you feel?" I always answer, "It goes from surreal to so real."

Sort Of Out Of Sorts I am aware that I am at The bottom of my game I shouldn't share that And care that I've lost all sense of shame It's like there's no stability I'm reeling I feel I've no ability For feeling Things that are dreary Are near me And I can't get away As they ignore me I'm surely To never have my say The only words I seem to speak Are bad lines And all I see each time I peek Are bad signs Trying all the last resorts I am sort of out of sorts Now I would welcome The humdrum That I used to dread I'd let the sameness Be blameless Embrace to angst instead I've never been in full control So what's new And no one's here who can console And get me through Trying all the last resorts I am sort of out of sorts All my thoughts have been scattered I would guess they have fallen down the path All the things that once mattered Must have been lost somewhere in the aftermath I'm not so bad when in between New outbreaks Guess that I will just be seen In outtakes Trying all the last resorts I am sort of out of sorts

Stop Thinking And You'll Remember Can moments of your history Turn into a mystery? You can jog your memory Asking was that them or me Are you just joking as we both know you love to These are the things that I know that you knew You say it doesn't ring a bell It's ringing something I can tell I could help out if I choose And offer you some tiny clues You're not recalling the right time or right place You never were good at placing a face Stop thinking and you'll remember Stop thinking and you'll remember You don't have to wrack your brain Just pull out of that memory lane The saddest thing that means a lot I can't forget what you forgot Ease up a little this isn't a pop quiz Time to admit that you know what this is Stop thinking and you'll remember Stop thinking and you'll remember There'll be a film you'll be trying to sit through When all of a sudden it will hit you Stop thinking and you'll remember

You're Always The Subtext Every move that I make Has a motive that I can't seem to shake Although you're not around I'm still trying to find the things you found Up until the day arrives when I get to what comes next You are always the subtext I keep quoting your quotes And still tallying up your silent votes Up until the days arrives when I get to what comes next You are always the subtext I don't wonder how you're spending your thanksgiving now I try not to check the weather where you're living now So until the day arrives when I get to what comes next You are always the subtext

about

John Dunbar's last three releases were greatly ambitious offerings. There was the Rutles-esque tribute to the Kinks titled The Kunks, that found worldwide success.
His Excursions In Trevorland was a truly original idea. He adapted the short stories of acclaimed author William Trevor into quintessential indie-pop songs. And his most recent, Life's Great Listeners, was a song cycle about struggling and failed musicians.
Dunbar went back to just writing songs without a big picture attached for his brand new album, Comeuppance, See Me Some Time. The results are 11 humorous, insightful snapshots put to instant, irresistible melodies.
